New cover and blurb for “The Mad Voyage of Prince Malock”

Hi, everyone!

As some of you may know, back in June, I released my first novel, called The Mad Voyage of Prince Malock in ebook form on all major ebook retailers. A couple of months later, I released a trade paperback edition from CreateSpace (links to both editions under the Prince Malock World tab above).

Thing is, I made the book’s cover on my own, mostly as a way to get a handle on cover design and to see if I could make a good cover. The old cover, which you can see here:

The Mad Voyage of Prince Malock

did not come out all that well.

So I hired a cover designer to do the covers for the rest of the Prince Malock World series (you can see his work by clicking on the Prince Malock World tab above).

But this old cover for Book One was still here and I didn’t like how it looked so different from the other books in the series, so I asked my cover designer to do a redesign. Here’s what he came up with:

the mad voyage of prince malock ebook cover

Very interesting and eyecatching, yes?

Not only that, but I felt that the blurb for The Mad Voyage of Prince Malock was weak, too, so I changed that as well. Here’s the new blurb:

“A mad voyage. A deadly sea. A prince who is determined to conquer both.

No mortal has ever sailed to the end of the world and returned to tell the tale. Legend says that the southern seas are full of dangerous sea creatures, lethal storms, and monstrous entities that even the gods cannot imagine. Only a great fool or a brave hero would dare to venture into these deadly waters, much less in response to the summons of a deity he has never even met.

Prince Tojas Malock is determined to cross the southern seas, even at the cost of his own life. To answer the summons of a goddess he does not worship, Malock recruits the finest crew money can buy: an intelligent but haughty mage, a young woman with a mysterious past, a fisherman with a secret, and an aquarian woman who knows far more than she lets on. With his ragtag crew of sailors, Malock sails to the world’s end, prepared to overcome whatever the southern seas may throw at him.

But with mortal-eating gods, murderous aquarian pirates, and a betrayal within the ship’s crew itself, Prince Malock’s mad voyage may be destined for nothing more than a tragic end.”

Personally I think this blurb is better than the old one. A lot more interesting and exciting, in my opinion, which is always a good thing when writing a sales blurb for your novel.

However, I have not yet uploaded the new cover onto all of the sites, nor have I uploaded the new blurb. Rest assured that I will get all of that done over the next day or so, including getting the new cover on the trade paperback version.

And yes, the trade paperback version of The Coronation of Prince Malock, the fourth and final book in the series, is on its way. I simply haven’t received the proof from CreateSpace yet, but as soon as I get it and read through it to fix typos, formatting errors, and the like, I will definitely announce I purchase here on this blog.

Author Solutions Steps Up Global Expansion, Penguin Random House Integration

For any Spanish authors reading this blog, this post by David Gaughran is a must-read if you don’t want to be conned out of thousands of euros (literally).

PRHGrupoASIPenguin Random House is speeding up the international expansion of its vanity press operations, while also seeking to integrate them more closely with the traditional side of the business – hoping to counteract flat growth for Author Solutions at a time when self-publishing is booming.

Author Solutions launches a new self-publishing service company for the Spanish market next Tuesday – MeGustaEscribir – which contains the usual mix of crappy publishing packages and ineffective, overpriced marketing services, as well as some extremely questionable practices such as reading fees (more on that below).

The way the Author Solutions scam typically operates is detailed exhaustively in this post, but here’s a brief summary.

How Author Solutions Squeezes Newbie Writers

Customers are captured through a variety of deceptive means – such as fake “independent” websites which purport to review all the self-publishing options available to writers (but only compare the various Author Solutions…

the coronation of prince malock ebook

Hi, everyone!

The fourth and final book in the main Prince Malock World series of novels is now available on all major ebook retailers for $7.99!

Here’s the sales blurb for those who don’t know what it’s about:

“With the unexpected death of his father the king, Prince Tojas Malock of Carnag is forced to don the mantle of King of Carnag amid persistent rumors of the corruption
of his friend, Skimif, who recently took on the role of God of Martir. Even as Malock fights to keep Carnag from joining the ever-growing coalition of Northern nations that are against Skimif’s rule, the ever-growing mountain of evidence against Skimif’s innocence causes doubt to gnaw at the back of his mind.

Ever since moving to the frigid far north, hundreds of miles away from the rest of civilization, with her adoptive father Quro, Jenur Takren believes that she can finally live the life of peace and normalcy that she’s always desired. Yet when an old enemy appears, seeking to kill her and her father for their past sins, Jenur is forced one again to use her skills of assassination to defend not only her own life, but that of her father’s as well.

In the final book in the main Prince Malock World series, Prince Malock and Jenur Takren struggle with their whole world turning upside down as their true enemy sets into motion a plan that could radically change Martir forever. Yet they may not be strong enough to do what they need to survive.”

Trade paperback edition of “The New Era of Prince Malock” is now available for $16.99!

Hi, everyone!

I am pleased to announce that the trade paperback edition of my newest novel, The New Era of Prince Malock, is now available for sale from CreateSpace and Amazon for $16.99.

If you don’t like buying from CreateSpace or Amazon, don’t worry. Just go to your local bookstore and ask them to order you a copy. They should be able to do it.

Also, if you buy the trade paperback edition new from Amazon, you can get the Kindle ebook version with it absolutely FREE! Since the ebook version is $6.99, I think this is a pretty good deal if you want to get both versions but don’t want to spend $24 for both of them.
